Literature Text

I'm not your plaything: I have no intent
to abjectly fulfil every command
you offer. I will never be content
to lie submissively beneath your hand
with my tongue held meekly between my teeth.
There is no fool so ludicrous as he
who claims as his own an unruly heath
and sets about indiscriminately
supplanting wildflowers, thorns and weeds
with delicate flowers more easily
manipulated. Any man who needs
such a pliant landscape does not wholly
possess his own mind. As for his garden,
his unwelcome touch makes its soil harden.

I wrote this and then lost the paper I wrote it on. I remember what it was about, but not the exact wording, so this is subject to change if I find the original.
